Who we are?
Little Angels was set up to promote, support and protect breastfeeding in the community whilst working in conjunction with Health Professionals, Voluntary Groups and children’s Centre’s to provide a seamless approach to breastfeeding using the UNICEF Baby Friendly 10 steps and 7 point plan.
What we do?
Currently we can provide support on a one to one basis in the home or at various groups across the county We also on a voluntary basis support and facilitate local parent craft sessions.
We have in total 2 girls who work in the hospital and they provide support from 9am-2pm 7 days a week 365 days a year. They can help with anything from Latching on to expressing. We support all breastfeeding mums on the ward. We also run a daily support group from 10:30am-11:00am discussing the management of breastfeeding.
We have 6 girls who work in the community and once discharged mums can expect a visit from a Little Angel within 48 hours within a second visit within 10 days. Mum should expect at least two visits and further visits are available upon request.
Our helpline is available for all mums regardless of area of Blackburn with Darwen they live in. It is manned on a voluntary basis by our experienced peer supporters and is available 7 days a week 365 days a year. We are here to help with any problems big or small.
We hold a list of all the local support groups in the area so we can refer you to your nearest one, often you will see a little angel there as we work very closely with the local support groups.
